We Make Wycombe’ connects, supports and celebrates the rich mix of creative talent across High Wycombe - visual art, music, performance, film and more. There are many ways to get involved, with funding, guidance and support available to help local creatives thrive. Our Hub at 1–2 Cornmarket is a free, welcoming space for local creatives and heritage groups to connect. It’s perfect for showcasing work, collaborating with others and trying out new ideas. Everything we support is offered free / low cost for the wider community, making art and culture accessible to everyone.
So far, we have featured local artist Jane Peacock, Wyrd Wycombe, Islamic art and a prayer mats exhibition plus workshops in music, DJing and podcasting. There’s a range of activity booked throughout the summer, including Derek Ogbourne and Wycombe Museum and events such as Hip-Hop Hobby Shop – such an exciting time for creativity in our town.

Gaia
Looking ahead to 2027, a range of partners are working together to bring something new for High Wycombe residents to enjoy. ‘Gaia’ is a breathtaking artwork of the Earth by renowned artist Luke Jerram, which has been touring all over the world to great acclaim. Seven metres in diameter, this beautifully lit installation offers a rare and extraordinary view of Earth as seen from space, inviting visitors to experience our planet from a new and moving perspective. Luke Jerram’s art practice explores the beauty and fragility of the natural world.
Gaia would transform Wycombe for three unforgettable weeks and we’re aiming to deliver a wide associated programme of events for local people and schools. Subject to successful fundraising, we’d love to offer free opportunities as part of the programme, so that everyone has the chance to experience this extraordinary work. The project supports culture, education, wellbeing and environmental sustainability, while also delivering clear economic benefits to our town. As a major cultural attraction, Gaia will increase footfall, boost the local visitor economy, and raise Wycombe’s profile as a destination for high-quality cultural experiences.
