High Wycombe Gang Show
For almost four decades, the High Wycombe Gang Show has been delighting audiences with an energetic mix of music, comedy, dance and theatre, performed entirely by local Scouts and Guides. First launched in 1986, the production has become a much-loved part of the town’s performing arts calendar, giving young people the opportunity to develop confidence, teamwork and stagecraft in a professional theatre-style environment.
Held at the Lancaster Arts Centre at Wycombe Abbey School, the show brings together more than 100 local young performers, alongside volunteer backstage crews, musicians and production teams. Each year features a lively variety performance combining modern music, original sketches and traditional Gang Show favourites.
Gang Shows themselves date back to 1932, when theatrical producer and Scout leader Ralph Reader created the first London production, beginning a tradition that spread across the world.
The High Wycombe production remains officially recognised by The Scout Association for its high standards both on stage and behind the scenes. In March this year, the show celebrated its 40th anniversary with a special ‘Hits & Highlights’ showcase celebrating the best moments from its long history.

Jackie Palmer Talent Agency
Founded in High Wycombe in the 1970s alongside the growing success of the Jackie Palmer Stage School, the Jackie Palmer Agency was created to manage talented young performers into West End productions. Over the past 55 years, the agency has expanded to represent hundreds of performers aged from four to 94 across musicals, television, film, theatre and commercials.
The agency’s ethos centres on getting to know each performer individually, so they can match them to the right role at the right time, while looking for opportunities for clients to develop and grow. Behind the scenes, agents manage everything from CVs, headshots and showreels to auditions, contracts and safeguarding processes.
A typical day involves reviewing casting opportunities from across the UK, suggesting suitable talent, liaising with casting directors and supporting performers and families throughout the audition process. Strong relationships with parents are essential, particularly when working with children, whose welfare and education are top priorities at the agency.
As a family-run business, the agency says the most rewarding thing of all is hearing one of its performers has secured a dream role: this is what the team is always working towards.
