Wycombe Homeless Connection (WHC) – Supporting People, Preventing Homelessness
WHC is a local charity working across south Buckinghamshire, mobilising the community to support people who are homeless or at risk of losing their home. Its work is rooted in the belief that every person has worth and a right to a home.
People who have lost their home, or are at risk of doing so, are connected with trained staff and volunteers who offer clear, informed support at critical moments throughout their journey. Services include housing advice, drop-in sessions, outreach support, a support centre and helpline. The charity also runs an emergency winter night shelter. Year-round, it provides essential items such as food, clothing and access to healthcare, ensuring immediate needs are met with dignity and care. For those without a home, the focus is on securing appropriate emergency accommodation and supporting individuals towards longer-term housing.
The community is at the heart of this work. More than 500 volunteers take action to end homelessness, supporting services, running the night shelter and helping to raise awareness. Ongoing fundraising also plays a vital role in sustaining and growing this support.
The Big Sleepout 2026: One night. A sleeping bag. A powerful act of solidarity
The Big Sleepout 2026 takes place on Friday, 13th November. Participants are invited to build and sleep in their own shelter for one night, reflecting on the realities faced by people experiencing homelessness. Sponsorship helps fund life-changing and life-saving services.
For the first time, a Sleepout Festival will run alongside the event. Before the overnight experience begins, families, friends and supporters can come together to hear real stories, take part in activities and explore food stalls and a mini-market featuring local businesses.
Registration opens in July, with festival tickets also available.
